Dr. Jason Besecker

Dr. Jason Besecker has called Boise, ID home since 1985. He received his BS and MS in Biology from Boise State University, and went on to earn a doctor of optometry at Indiana University School of Optometry. He completed internships in the treatment and management of ocular disease, pre- and post-operative surgical care, and primary eye care at Indiana University School of Optometry, Hudson Valley VA Medical Center, and at The Eye Institute of Utah.

‌During 2014-2021 Dr. Besecker was an associate at Hollingshead Eye Center where he was able to gain significant experience in the areas of ocular disease and surgical co-management. He has special interests in ocular disease and enjoys helping patients manage their glaucoma, age related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and dry eye disease.

Dr. Besecker specializes in the treatment and management of ocular diseases including dry eye, glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetes, and ocular emergencies. When not working, Dr. Besecker enjoys spending time with his wife and 2 children, and enjoying what the Idaho outdoors has to offer.

​​​​​​​It is important as a physician to actively listen to and respect patients’ individual wants and needs. I recognize that each patient is different and requires individualized care. My goal as an eye care physician is to achieve excellence in providing compassionate care to all patients. To attain this, it is necessary to provide patients with accurate information about their condition or diagnosis. I feel it is important for patients to be educated about their conditions and the choices they have for treatment. I believe that the more a patient knows about their condition the more involved they are with their care, which leads to better long term results.
